Created in 1917, Baselworld was the first watch show in Switzerland and the largest watch show on Earth. Today, brands from various countries are present at Baselworld and it is the great opportunity for retailers to present their latest innovations, creations and collections. Here I will share with you these two attractive Rolex watches that caught my eye from Baselworld 2016 and will hopefully catch yours.
As many of you will recall, the original Explorer watch was the model that accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on their conquest of Everest’s 8,848 metre summit in 1953. Conquering a new generation, the 39mm Rolex Explorer II comes with all the robust qualities of an Oyster case - water-resistance to 100 metres. As the picture shows, this updated version now includes a full luminescent dial, including the 3, 6, and 9, numerals, which emits a striking blue glow in the dark. Its hands are now both broader and longer, which is now perfectly proportional to the overall look of the black dial. This all-black replica Rolex Explorer timepiece is presented in a 39mm 904L steel case, which houses the calibre 3132 with a power reserve of 48 hours.
Rolex revamped its flagship classic watch and now presents the new Datejust 41 collection. And this year’s version is as precious as ever with the inclusion of diamonds on the bezel and diamond hour markers set on a mother of pearl dial – all cased in an Everose Rolesor case. Ringing the heritage of timeless elegance and functionality in a smaller size perfectly suited to a lady’s wrist. Like all Datejust collections, variety is key, and the new Datejust 41 is available in a range of dial options, bezel styles, and outfitted with either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. This elegant watch will surely be the favourite among the ladies this year.
